WHAT ARE YOU LEANING ON?

Matthew 19:22 But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful; for he was one that had great possessions.

  • What are we striving in this our noble earth for? Is it fame, power, money, happiness or love? Do we think about old age, sickness or even death? Your name, fame or money will not be remembered after the second or the third generation. So do we make use of whatever we have in possession now and forget about what happens tomorrow and death? Is there something beyond death? Of course some people believe in reincarnation but no one is a living proof of that. All is not lose with all these thought evoking questions which sometimes go on in our minds. There is only one living proof of someone who has promise us a life beyond the spheres of our planet and to be there eternally. May I introduce to you JESUS CHRIST of Nazareth. In Rev. 1: 18, Jesus said >” I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades”. This is good news, right? So after all there is hope for tomorrow. But our Lord require us to do a little task for him. First he want us to trust him, follow him then lean on him. I think this is not much to ask for our own benefit. We may be or willing to do this little task but there are some possessions we are leaning ourselves on. As read above, Jesus told the Young Rich Man to give his possession to the poor and follow him but the Young Rich Man went away sorrowfully because he had great possession. What are we leaning on that has been a stumbling block between us and our Saviour? Is it our money, maybe we have none but we have Time, Work, Friends and Family. These are some of the things we possess that Christ is saying “a Time like this; we should leave it all and serve him.

Generosity doesn’t always mean giving people material possession. We have time to share the love of Christ with others. God has given us a work that we can have the opportunity to spread the Good News and the Second Coming. How about praying, do we always pray like this “Lord give me…Lord I need… Lord my…” always asking things for ourselves without recognizing that the last six of the commandment talks about being generous, kind and showing love to others. Let’s pray for God’s spirit to direct our paths to be able to abide and lean on Him. May God bless you as you heed to His word, Amen.
